Your role

 

Join our team as a Principal  with the Toronto team.

 

In this role, the Principal will be part of the Toronto leadership team and will be responsible to align and implement the company's priorities and initiatives. You will successfully operate in a matrix organizational structure to develop, direct, and assess the execution of business development strategies to achieve annual targets of at least 15% growth while also achieving the established profit targets across multiple sectors including Higher Education, Healthcare, Municipal, and others including institutional clients in both the public and private sectors within the Toronto and Southern Ontario geographies.  As a people leader, you will be responsible for attracting, retaining, motivating, and inspiring a team of Project Leaders.

 

Responsibilities

Leadership 

  • Responsible for attracting, retaining, motivating, and inspiring our talented Project Professionals and ensuring all team members have the necessary qualifications, training, and experience.
  • Set the direction of the team and access the capabilities that are needed to support the resourcing needs of our business.
  • Execute performance management deliverables such as coaching and mentoring direct reports, providing constructive feedback (360 review) and inspiration for them to achieve their desired career ambitions.
  • Report the status of key projects, risks, and opportunities in a timely and accurate manner to the Vice President of Toronto.
  • Support and implement our corporate strategy and initiatives.
  • Anticipate and clarify industry trends and articulate how they affect client needs both internally and externally, developing approaches to address them.

Business Development

  • Develop the team’s diversified growth strategy and tactical action plan to achieve the sales and fee income targets for the year.
  • Oversee the development of proposals
  • Employ strategic approach to identify, pursue, and win new clients in partnership with the National Business Development Team and Sector Leaders.
  • Review and update accounts and YTD sales progress in Connect.
  • Lead the team to actively expand the business with our existing clients through our Trusted Advisor
  • Effectively manage client relationships leveraging the Account Management Program. 

Market Identity

  • Participate and present a unified company voice within the local business community, through networking, and active participation to help grow the business, increase market identity, and recruit the best talent.
  • Actively contribute to thought leadership, conference speaking, and other related marketing efforts that establish our company as best in class.

Financial Management

  • Develop the financial acumen of the team. Conduct regular reviews of team financial performance against budget and business plan and make efficient business expenditures with clear rationale and purpose behind them.
  • Have a thorough understanding of revenue recognition reporting and submit realistic/achievable budgets and forecasts to ensure proper business planning.

Success Measures

  • Secure and lead a book of business >$2.5-5M of fee income
  • Target utilization: up to 25%
  • Manage the profitability of our delivery teams, achieving a minimum project contribution of 65%
  • Client Satisfaction, Sales, Fee Income & Contribution
  • Employee Turnover and Engagement

Qualifications

  • A minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in operational and business development leadership, preferably within a consulting service business. Having gained experience finding and closing sales, managing a portion of a business unit P&L in alignment with key metrics, motivating and inspiring teams, and deploying commercial risk management.
  • Solid experience leading and delivering projects to a broad variety of sectors is a strong asset
  • Professional industry credentials (PMP, P.Eng., OAA (or Equivalent), etc) or MBA (or an equivalent combination of academic and practical experience).
  • Has established a strong network/market presence (applicable regional industry and trade associations) and has led the integration of services and the development of new market opportunities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, facilitation, and presentation skills for all levels of our clients and our own organization including a proven ability to write winning proposals.
  • The ability to project and maintain a positive outlook and demonstrate an energetic disposition.
  • Relocation and travel within the GTHA is expected
