Your role

 

As a Senior Advisor you will be providing guidance and advisory services on Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) contract models as well as implementation of Lean Project Delivery Systems. You will be part of a dedicated national Collaborative & Lean Project Delivery Team, working directly with clients, stakeholders, consultants and contractors to facilitate successful implementation of these projects.  While your focus will be on IPD, you may also be providing advisory support on Progressive Design Build (PDB) and Alliance model deliveries.

Your goal is to become the voice of the project and garner the respect first of the client and then of the delivery teams as a trusted advisor throughout the project’s lifecycle. You understand the fundamental differences between shared risk/reward contract models and other delivery models. You understand the paradigm shift that utilizes the Lean Manufacturing and Lean Six Sigma basis towards Lean thinking and Lean Project Delivery application for our industry and are willing to continue to grow your skills in that regard. You are comfortable challenging traditional tools and processes, and you understand the fundamental differences between value and waste and can see the opportunity that exists from silo behaviors in the industry today.

You’re the kind of person who dives right in, learning as much as you can about doing things differently, taking advantage of all emergent tools, strategies and methodologies that can be applied from Lean, IPD and collaborative delivery past lessons learned and applying your knowledge and technical expertise to get the best results working with the Owner, the team, and for the project. Since you will be a part of a working team within Colliers, you also appreciate working within a team environment, you can coach your teammates and are willing to be coached.  You are willing to collaborate on processes and methods so that the programmatic approach can continually be improved.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with clients to assess and then support them in readiness for engaging in IPD, through education and process improvement guidance as needed in early Pre-Validation
  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings, education and Lean & IPD Workshops in preparation for delivery team engagement
  • Assist the client in finalizing their business case, value proposition and gathering the initial owners Conditions of Satisfaction
  • Develop strategies and tactics for the procurement of an IPD Team
  • Work directly with IPD Teams in all aspects of delivery including Pre-Validation & onboarding, Validation, Detailed Design, Construction and Commissioning
  • Facilitate the IPD Teams through interactive workshops (Values Alignment, IPD & Lean Bootcamps, Target Value Delivery, etc.) and regular Big Room engagements, leadership team meetings and Project Implementation Teams (PITs) for multi-discipline work sessions
  • Train, facilitate and advise IPD teams on various Lean methods including but not limited to Last Planner® System implementation
  • Develop strong relationships with the client throughout the project, alongside maintaining IPD Team relationship
  • Ensure that client expectations and satisfaction are met or exceeded on all projects
  • Support internal continual improvement efforts for the IPD Team to further enhance project and process effectiveness
  • Provide guidance, training, structure, tools/templates and processes to support the above responsibilities
  • Leverage Colliers internal team structure and coaching proactively to support the above responsibilities.  Provide guidance and coaching to junior advisors within the team accordingly
  • Travel to various locations as needed

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 15 years working within the design or construction industry
  • Demonstrated experience  working directly with Integrated Project Delivery model (IPD) facilitation and/or implementation of collaborative contracting in a manner that leverages Lean Project Delivery, integrated design practices, early contractor involvement and collaborative pre-planning with owners
  • Knowledge and understanding of traditional processes and procedures that are used to design, construct and operate facilities and infrastructure
  • A university degree in engineering, architecture or construction management (or an equivalent combination of academic and practical experience)
  • Effective leadership, facilitation, and organizational skills with the ability to effectively influence others and successfully resolve a variety of client, project and technical issues
  • Knowledge and understanding of the different contract models available and the ability to advise clients on what best meets their value proposition
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at one time
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Strong computer skills, including a working knowledge of MS Office products and other online collaboration and planning software
  • Certification within Lean, Lean Design, Lean Construction Management, Lean Six Sigma, or anything equivalent is an asset, but not essential.  (demonstration of understanding will be expected)

Approximate Salary Range for Role: $120,000 to $150,000

 

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all Canada locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
