Your Role

 

Join our team as a Project Manager in the Atlantic business unit!

 

We’re looking for outstanding project leaders who are organized, have a keen eye for details and have led and managed complex projects from start to finish – on time and on budget with our Atlantic business unit.

 

You build strong, trusting client relationships and have a knack for bringing the right people together to come up with innovative ideas and solutions. You are focused on project safety, organization, coordination, and understand how to lead projects through design, permitting, and construction. 

 

This highly rewarding role will see you use your project management skills by contributing to various projects across Newfoundland and Labrador, from commercial buildings and fit-ups, social organizations, infrastructure, water and wastewater as well as a variety of projects within municipalities and Indigenous communities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead building and facilities projects of varying in size and scope in the municipal sector, Indigenous projects, recreation, and other projects. 
  • Develop strong client relationships and act as the client’s single point of contact throughout the project to achieve the client’s goals and objectives
  • Build trust with your clients, so they rely on your knowledge, skills and expertise to achieve their business goals and objectives
  • Ensure that client expectations and satisfaction are met or exceeded on all projects and the client’s best interests are represented with respect to contractual and technical issues
  • Provide oversight and leadership of all elements of the project delivery
  • Lead project teams and establish levels of authority and lines of communication
  • Participate in on-site inspections across Newfoundland and Labrador
  • Chair project and site meetings, find resolution to issues and coordinate between multiple stakeholders
  • Regularly report on project status by means of schedule updates, meeting minutes, financial records and other reports
  • Provide oversight and leadership to the change management process, payment certificates and other contract or project related administrative documents
  • Lead the control of project related documents and deliver all work in accordance with Colliers Project Leaders Quality Management System and procedures
  • Provide leadership and mentorship of Assistant Project managers and other junior project resources

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the role of Project Manager, representing owners to multiple stakeholders in the delivery of projects of varying size and scope in a range of sectors such as institutional, healthcare, educational or commercial mixed-use
  • A university degree or diploma in engineering, architecture, construction management or project management (or an equivalent combination of academic and practical experience)
  • Strong knowledge of various types of construction methodologies, project management models and financial management, as well as building codes, contract law and relevant legislation
  • Clear understanding of best practice Project Management methodologies and procedures within a PMO environment is an asset
  • Effective client management, people management leadership and organizational skills matched with the ability to effectively influence others and successfully resolve a variety of client and technical issues
  • Detail oriented leader with the ability to work in a process driven environment on multiple projects at the same time
  • Self-motivation, initiative and an eagerness to learn and contribute to meeting project deliverables
  • A results-oriented approach with the ability to take responsibility and oversee a team of Assistant Project Managers
  • Exceptional detail orientation, organizational skills and the ability to prioritize competing tasks to meet tight deadlines and client expectations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Strong computer skills, including a working knowledge of scheduling (MS Project), word processing (Word) and spreadsheet (Excel) software applications
  • Experience working with First Nations and local authorities in Newfoundland and Labrador is considered a strong asset.
  • Demonstrable experience in providing onsite construction services (such as site inspections) and a knowledge of construction practices and techniques is considered a strong asset
  • PMP designation an asset (you will be asked to work towards obtaining the Project Management Professional Designation (PMP) through the Project Management Institute within your first year with us)
