Your role

 

Join our Yukon team as a Senior Project Manager.

 

This is a leadership opportunity that will enable the right candidate to grow a service business that aligns with their own personal and cultural values and reflects the needs of the communities that we serve. We are seeking an aspiring, self-motivated, and collaborative Senior Project Manager to join our team of experts committed to leading projects and building relationships across our Northern Canada business unit. This position will empower and support a team of project managers and assistant project managers.

 

In this role, you’ll work closely with clients to provide strategic advice and have the rewarding opportunity to contribute to meaningful change through projects that enhance access to housing, clean drinking water, education, and community infrastructure. Responsibilities

  •  Lead, delegate, and empower multiple project delivery teams. Oversee project delivery team performance. Select, organize and influence the performance of multi-disciplined project teams. 
  • Lead the implementation of training and tools in support of service delivery.
  • Build a personal brand based on your subject matter expertise and passion.
  • Lead account management activities and create a culture of quality.
  • Be accountable for client satisfaction and embrace a client-centric attitude. Clients trust you and rely on your knowledge, skills, and expertise to navigate contractual and technical challenges and achieve their business goals and objectives.
  • Work with a variety of client groups in both the public and private sectors, including Indigenous governing bodies, Indigenous community groups and organizations, local authorities (regional districts and municipalities), provincial government and federal government.
  • Consult directly with communities, funding partners, and design and construction professionals to plan and implement capital building and infrastructure projects.
  • Support Indigenous communities and local authorities to develop economic prosperity through strategic land planning, land development and business development.
  • Support Indigenous communities and local authorities to plan for emergencies and rebuild after climate-related disasters.
  • Lead programs of work and large capital projects, varying in scope and complexity.
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients and respond to new business opportunities with support from the Business Development Team, Principal or Regional Vice President.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience leading project management mandates of varying size and scope, involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience closing new business, winning key pursuits (including client interviews), and mentoring new employees.
  • A university degree or diploma in business administration, commerce, finance, or engineering (or a related mix of academic and practical experience).
  • Knowledge of various types of construction methodologies, project management models, financial management, contract law, and relevant legislation.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • A broad written and verbal communication skill set including strong presentation, stakeholder facilitation and report writing skills.
  • Effective client and people management skills, matched with the ability to effectively influence others and successfully resolve a variety of commercial, people, client and technical issues.
  • Excellent relationship-building and collaboration skills to interact with clients, colleagues, and external industry subject matter experts.
  • Professional industry credentials such as PMP, P.Eng., CET, RA, or similar industry-recognized designation is considered a strong asset.
  • Preference for candidates with demonstrated experience working respectfully in cross-cultural settings, including building, and maintaining relationships with Indigenous communities.
  • Experience building and nurturing long-term client relationships and working collaboratively with local governments and First Nations is considered a strong asset.
