Your role

 

A team-oriented individual looking to further your career in the professional services sector by providing support and expertise to our corporate accounting team. Reporting to the Senior Manager Accounting, you would be part of a substantial team committed to supporting an established national project management firm focused on significant growth in the coming years.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and enter journal entries
  • Review and file GST/HST/PST tax returns on a monthly basis
  • Conduct monthly performance reviews and analysis for Business Units
  • Maintain fixed asset detail records
  • Perform bank reconciliations and Balance Sheet Reconciliations
  • Complete assigned internal reports on a monthly / quarterly basis, revise and update reports to be more useful and efficient
  • Complete data entry of budgets, forecasts, and monthly financial results on Colliers interface.
  • Prepare and update monthly tracking sheets, report templates, and regular data downloads
  • Assist with analysis, verification, and posting transactions to general ledgers module or other modules
  • Upload and maintain SharePoint files for Corporate Accounting team
  • Assist with ad hoc reporting requests
  • Perform each task in a timely manner to ensure monthly closing is completed on schedule
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years accounting experience at an intermediate level in a mid-size company.
  • BSc in Accounting, Finance or relevant degree.
  • Additional certification (CPA) is a plus.
  • A good knowledge of accounting principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, procedures, and practices.
  • Excellent team player with strong organization skills.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines, under pressure, and in a fast paced environment.
  • Knowledge of financial and accounting software applications such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, Great Plain, or other ERP system.
  • Must be willing to work with minimal supervision, be well organized, able to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Take initiative to solve problems and pay attention to details.
  • Strong knowledge of computer applications and advanced Excel skills: Microsoft Office and Power BI.
  • Knowledge of project accounting is an asset.
  • Effective communication skills, with ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner.
