Your role

 

Join our team as a Senior Project Manager leading teams to deliver complex capital projects in Municipalities, Regional District’s and Indigenous Communities across British Columbia.

 

In this role, you will work with a team of experts who lead major capital building and infrastructure projects. Based in the Vancouver or another community in the Lower Mainland areas and working with communities across the British Columbia Business Unit, you bring previous experience leading and delivering infrastructure projects that vary in scope and complexity. You’ve become known as a trusted advisor to your clients and have built strong, lasting relationships with senior leaders and decision makers.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic advise to municipal leaders and elected officials on a variety of complex local government issues.
  • Support early project planning and organizational governance that leads to certainty on capital projects.
  • Be a leader and a team player with clients, colleagues and other project partners.
  • Bring innovation and new ideas to the project team and help solve complex problems.
  • Support intermediate and junior staff with coaching and mentorship to help develop their skills and grow their careers.
  • Be entrepreneurial and support business growth by leading pursuits and developing winning proposals.
  • Select, organize and influence the performance of multi-disciplined project teams.
  • Lead programs of work and large capital projects, varying in scope and complexity.
  • Develop strong client relationships and act as the client’s single point of contact throughout the project to achieve the client’s strategy and goals.
  • Ensure client expectations are met or exceeded on all projects and the client’s best interests are represented with respect to contractual and technical issues.
  • Be responsible for the financial performance of our projects and ensure a high standard of delivery in accordance with our quality management system.

Qualifications

  • Experience delivering municipal buildings or infrastructure projects is a strong asset.
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in project management, at least five of those in British Columbia, representing owner’s best interests on municipal and community amenity projects
  • Experience providing services over all phases of the project lifecycle from feasibility and planning studies through to compliance review and independent project audit including direct day-to-day project oversight are being sought     
  • Demonstrated prior experience delivering large profile projects worth $20 million or more as the lead project manager for municipal, regional, Indigenous, provincial or federal authorities
  • Experience and a thorough understanding of the municipal project environment including public procurement practices and reporting to staff and council
  • Thorough understanding and working knowledge of project delivery models, including design-build, progressive design-build, construction management, design-bid-build, integrated project delivery and P3
  • A university degree or diploma in engineering, architecture, construction management or another related field.
  • Project Management Professional designation (PMP).
