    We are seeking an experienced marketing leader to join our team as the Director of Marketing and Communications. This is a senior leadership role that shapes and leads our corporate marketing strategy for the organization. 

    Based in Ottawa at our Corporate HQ, the Director, Marketing and Communications is responsible for developing and implementing marketing and communications plans that drive demand for company services.

    In this role you will lead the three core marketing functions that support our business, Marketing Strategies, Brand & Communications and Proposals. You are the driving force in the development of the work ethic, culture and values of the team.   

    You will establish the strategic priorities for the overall Marketing functions and how they align with and support our business. Additionally, you will build out the necessary tools, processes and infrastructure to ensure the team can confidently execute on its core priorities.

You are able to successfully operate at a senior level within in the organization while collaborating closely with the CDO (Chief Development Officer), COO (Chief Operating Officer), Vice Presidents, Directors, Principals, Business Development Managers and Client Relationship Managers to drive continual process improvements and implement best sales support, marketing and communication practices.


    What you will get to do as the Director of Marketing and Communications:

    • Develop and implement integrated marketing activities; delegate day to day activities to team members
    • Oversee the development of communications media and advertising materials
    • Maintain detailed budget and ROI analysis on specific marketing programs generated
    • Cross functional coordination between business groups for integrated marketing programs as well as outside vendors, to ensure desired outcomes are achieved
    • Responsible for media planning and maintaining media attention
    • Monitor collateral and materials for consistency and market/brand positioning
    • Develop network, supervise and leverage relationship with external resources and suppliers
    • Manage corporate trademarks and trademark process
    • Oversee President’s speaking engagements and related media and collateral – delegate tasks to appropriate team members
    • Develop and oversee the coordination and production of communication materials and strategies to support Colliers Project Leaders’ business development activities
    • Leverage information and contacts in the CRM as a means to launch communication activities
    • Own the go/no-go decision-making process at a high-level ensuring a systematic process is followed for each Go decision including assessment of time / effort by the Proposals team
    • Collaborate with VP sales on strategies to better integrate marketing, communications, and proposal activities.
    • Develop high level messaging for all service lines and sectors to be enacted in the proposals


    What you will need to be successful:

    • University Degree in Marketing, Business or Communications or equivalent education and experience as a Director, Marketing and Communications. A graduate level degree is attractive.
    • 10 years’ leading marketing and communications teams for consulting businesses. Experienced in successfully building, coaching and motivating high performing teams while holding employees accountable
    • Minimum 15 years’ experience in the Marketing and Communications industry.
    • Knowledge of the project management, design, construction, facilities management or real estate sectors considered an asset
    • Strategic thinker who can identify and drive strategic business initiatives
    • Sound knowledge of relevant computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite software, sales automation and CRM applications, desktop publishing applications, and social media tools and processes
    • Knowledge of and ability to apply marketing concepts and operating strategies (brand positioning, brand architecture, SWOT analysis, competitive assessment, marketing objectives/strategies, market segmentation, qualitative and quantitative research, media planning, trade and customer promotions, ROI, estimating, creative development process)
    • Create compelling stories and calls to action by integrating text, design, imagery, video and other creative elements into digital and print to drive lead generation. Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously and to thrive under pressure
    • Leading edge knowledge of web media including trends, design, blogging, search engine optimization, and hosting options is essential
    • Understanding of the relationship of the web to an integrated marketing program and optimizing its use as a low-cost sales support tool
    • Good organizational, analytical, and logistical support skills
    • Flawless writing, spelling, and grammar skills are essential
    • Bilingual candidate, fully conversant in both verbal and written English and French is highly desirable
