    General Description and Authority

    Reporting to the Manager, Virtual Proposal Team, the Proposal Writer Specialist will provide writing and editing assistance, strategic input, and lead the timely delivery of proposal submissions for various Business Units. This position is an important support function to the organization. It requires premium organizational and communication skills, normal to above average computer/formatting skills, and a strong understanding of the proposal process.

    This is a part-time role, perfect for independent consultants or people looking for reduced hours. Number of hours will fluctuate regularly, but we can guarantee a minimum number of hours per month. In addition, we offer flexibility in location and ability to work remotely.


    Job Pre-requisites

    • Post-secondary degree in Journalism, Communications or Marketing or equivalent work experience.
    • Advanced working knowledge of MS Office products with strong Word and PowerPoint skills, knowledge of desktop publishing software is an asset.
    • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suites software, in particular InDesign, is a strong asset.
    • Excellent business writing, editing and proofreading skills
    • Knowledge of the proposal development process and familiarity with Request for Proposal (RFP) documents;
    • Exceptional researcher and a persuasive sales writer able to express ideas and concepts in a compelling manner, using both text and graphics
    • Self-starter with superior project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, track projects, and meet deadlines
    • Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously, work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and handle confidential information with discretion
    • Enjoys working in a team environment

    Job Duties
    The employee shall be responsible to:

    • Lead the development of professional, high-quality, compelling proposals that effectively educate and inspire action on the part of customers and prospects
    • Identify and voice concerns associated with the proposal preparation process and response, as related to issues of compliance and risk
    • Strategically manage the proposal response from receipt of RFP to the delivery of the final product
    • Define and manage the proposal response plan, schedule, and internal communications associated with the proposal development including follow-up with the contributors
    • Actively participate in and lead proposal strategy meetings, researching internal and external information, and distilling into win strategies to be executed in your proposal response
    • Ensure the consistent and uniform application of the Company’s standards and brand with respect to all communication and applicable tasks undertaken
    • Provide editing as required to ensure the proposal response is accurate, concise, and effective 
    • Ensure management and follow-up of issues and information requests
    • Communicate with senior-level managers within and outside of the company

    Working Conditions

    • Work takes place in a clean and pleasant office environment. There may be occasional requirements to attend out of office meetings, events and trade shows.

    Physical Demands

    • At times, there will be extensive periods of sitting and keyboarding activity
