    Responsibilities

    What success looks like:

    • You have the ability to provide oversight on construction activities in the field, inspecting construction work as it’s undertaken to ensure compliance with construction contracts, applicable quality standards, and health and safety requirements
    • You will be effective in reviewing and interpreting construction drawings and specifications in relation to construction contract details
    • You are able to accurately verify quantities, prepare progress reports and maintain appropriate documentation and records relative to construction progress onsite
    • You’re able to identify contractual and regulatory infractions and work with project teams to find appropriate resolutions
    • You have a knack for maintaining effective communication with clients, contractors and other consultants
    • You have the ability and experience to supervise junior inspectors and field staff

    What you bring:

    • A university degree or diploma in civil engineering or related discipline
    • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience working in a similar capacity on municipal and transportation construction projects
    • Registration or eligibility for registration for P.Eng. or CET designation
    • Certification by OACETT for the Road Construction Senior Inspector (RCSI) designation is a benefit
    • Sound knowledge of design standards, specifications and materials associated with construction laws and regulations including environmental, traffic control, and occupational health and safety requirements and their application in construction contracts
    • Previous experience and training in road construction, in particular bridges and noise wall construction

    Bonus skills and experience:

    • Strong leadership and organizational skills with a proven ability to effectively influence others and resolve client, project and technical issues
    • Excellent written and verbal communication, and presentation skills
    • Proficient in MS Project, MS Word and MS Excel
