    As Colliers Project Leaders continues to attract exciting project opportunities, we seek a Landscape Architect to join our Southern Ontario team.

     

    Our ideal candidate has a broad skill set including financial acumen, people management, superior communication, facilitation, negotiation, conflict resolution and networking skills. Demonstrated experience with landscape design in a project management consulting environment is a requirement.

     

    The Landscape Architect is an experienced leader of a dynamic design and development team, demonstrating strong leadership skills, and an excellent understanding of design production and performance requirements. The Landscape Architect provides leadership for a team focused on the delivery of infrastructure design planning for major public clients including hospitals, health centers, and post-secondary institutions.

     

    The Landscape Architect plans, prioritizes and drives progress to achieve agreed outcomes. This is accomplished through strategically managing resources, balancing work load, monitoring budgets and/or areas of service provision, assigning priorities, and tracking project deliverables with the purpose of increasing overall efficiency.

    Responsibilities

    What you’ll get to do as a Landscape architect:

     

    • Provide day to day leadership for the Design Team, and guide the team to develop innovative solutions that meet client expectations
    • Planning, design, budget preparation, report writing, tender documents, contract inspections, and contract administration for park development, streetscaping, open space lands, and trail system;
    • Liaise with clients, approval agencies, sports user groups, and stakeholders at large;
    • Manage and administer consultants, contractors, and agencies;
    • Review and comment on environmental assessments, detailed designs as it relates to parkland and open space designation.
    • Deliver client presentations in both formal and informal settings
    • Attend client meetings as requested by senior team members
    • Meet regularly with team members to discuss design direction, project challenges, schedules, upcoming client meetings and deadlines

    Qualifications

    • University Degree (B.L.Arch.) in Landscape Architecture, or related discipline.
    • Minimum of ten (10) years related experience in the field of Landscape Architecture, and urban design, or active transportation planning preferably in a municipal environment.
    • Full membership in the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects (O.A.L.A.)
    • Knowledgeable in trail design and implementation projects within greenfield and urban intensification areas.
    • Strong Interpersonal, organizational, report writing, problem solving, and presentation skills, and the ability to work in a team environment are essential.
    • The ability to deal effectively and courteously with stakeholders
    • Highly developed technical, analytical, design, graphic, and computer skills; working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software; working knowledge of computer software and techniques that are applicable to design, analysis, coordination, and construction contract administration is essential.
    • Experience interpreting landscape, mechanical, electrical, and structural drawings and specifications; familiarity with the requirements for site grading and drainage plans; ability to prepare and administer construction contracts.
    • Extensive project management experience in landscape construction and on-site experience including landscape construction techniques, methods, materials,
    • Advanced knowledge of sustainability, integrated design and LEED guidelines.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects of a complex scope.
    • Working proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch up, and InDesign graphic software is preferred.
    • Highly developed communication skills, both verbally and in writing. Basic hand sketching abilities that communicate quick ideas and building techniques is heavily preferred.
    • Ability to work within and foster a team environment is essential.
    • Ability to effectively meet deadlines is essential
