Who you are:


You are a 3rd or 4th year post-secondary student enrolled in an Engineering Discipline who is driven to make the most of their time with us and are interested in building your career in project management. In return, we will ensure interns or summer students gain valuable experience and knowledge delivered by the best leaders in the industry and directly contribute to exciting building and infrastructure projects in Manitoba.


In this role, you’ll work with experienced project managers to sharpen your relationship management skills and successfully achieve project deliverables. You’ll hone your project management skills by working on various projects from different industry sectors.


You take a positive approach to your work and enjoy learning and contributing new ideas and solutions. You’re good at building strong relationships with your team members. You have a keen eye for detail, have superior organizational skills and can prioritize competing tasks and deadlines.


We can accommodate work terms of 4 to 8 months in length, beginning summer or fall. Applicants are asked to indicate their desired timing and length of co-op work term in their submitted cover or resume along with transcripts.

What success looks like:

  • You are a key contributor, working alongside and learning from the best project leaders in the industry
  • You will gain valuable exposure to effective project delivery systems, processes and tools
  • You will build core project management skills needed for future success by assuming a hands-on role supporting capital project delivery and develop a deeper understanding of design principals, construction methodologies and contract law
  • You provide superior project support to Project Managers by drafting reports, doing cost tracking and producing progress status updates
  • You prepare detailed meeting minutes, make scheduling and budget adjustments, and prepare tender and contract documents
  • You perform research for proposal and projects as needed
  • You ensure project activities are conducted in accordance with Colliers Project Leaders’ Quality Management System
  • You attend important project and site meetings, documenting action items and key decisions to share with the team


What you bring: 

  • Enrollment in a university degree or college diploma program in engineering, architecture, construction management or project management
  • A keen interest in project management along with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and collaborative, team-based environment
  • Previous co-op, internship or summer term experience in an engineering, architecture, construction or project management environment is considered an asset
  • Self-motivation, drive and a high level of personal accountability
  • Willingness to learn, and advance technical knowledge and capability 

Bonus skills and experience:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational ability and attention to detail
  • Proficient in MS Project, MS Word and MS Excel
  • A professional appearance, candor and appropriate communication style needed to interact effectively with clients and project stakeholders
