The Opportunity:

 

The Director plays a leadership role in the growth and operation of our federal sector business in the Southern Ontario market. The immediate focus will be applied to building and growing strong working relationships with Public Works Government Services as well as federal entities representing First Nations groups. It will broaden to include all federal sector clients. This position is directly responsible for leading a team of talented professionals and owns major elements of our growth mandate in the public sector

Responsibilities

What you’ll get to do as Director, Federal Sector at Colliers Project Leaders:

  • Execute a leadership role in the growth of Canada’s largest and fastest growing project management and advisory services firm within the public sector (Federal)
  • Oversee high profile project mandates (real property and/infrastructure) to achieve client satisfaction and corporate objectives.
  • Lead pursuits (RFP, RFQ and proposals) and gain the confidence of clients in interviews.
  • Lead, grow and develop a dedicated team of highly capable professionals, delivering unrivalled project management and advisory services to high profiled clients.
  • Build the capabilities and capacity of teams, as well as successors for key roles.
  • Partners with the Business Development Team and the Vice President on relationship building and sales activities
  • Be the Client Relationship Manager for certain federal sector clients.
  • Define and implement annual business plans and market development strategies

Qualifications

What you’ll need to be successful: 

  • A strategic thinker capable of pursuing, negotiating and winning new contracts for project management services;
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience leading and delivering real property and/or infrastructure projects for public sector clients. Preference will be given to candidates with a portfolio of federal sector and/or First Nations experience;
  • Completion of a university degree in commerce, business administration, engineering, architecture, urban planning or a related discipline, with professional status, or an equivalent combination of academic and practical experience;
  • Effective leadership and organizational skills with the ability to effectively influence others and successfully resolve a variety of client, project and technical issues;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and presentation skills;
  • Skilled at building relationships within large government organizations and with their key decision makers;
  • Strong computer skills, including a working knowledge of scheduling (MS Project), word processing (Word) and spreadsheet (Excel) software applications;
  • Professional industry credentials such as PMP, P.Eng., CET, RA or similar industry recognized designation is considered a strong asset;
  • A thorough understanding of PWGSC procurement process and vehicles (i.e. TSPS);
  • Flexibility to travel throughout Ontario in order to pursue, win and oversee execution of project management assignments;
