Overview

As Colliers Project Leaders continues to experience strong growth we are looking for a Managing Director to join our National Advisory Services Business based in Calgary

 

Our Advisory Services provides clients with a range of services to assist them evaluate opportunities, minimize risk and implement their strategies in Real Property, Assets and Infrastructure. This includes strategic planning for capital projects, development management services, business case and growth planning, pattern analysis, accommodation planning analysis and studies, Real Estate Advisory services, Portfolio Strategy, Workplace Innovation, Strategy and Change, Enterprise Program Management and Process Improvement.

 

As the Managing Director you will lead our regional Advisory Services team and take overall responsibility for the implementation, management, growth and continuous improvement of advisory services in the region.

 

As a regional leader you will be responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of the business and participate in the National Advisory leadership. You will lead client groups through a diverse range of scenarios including defining accommodation needs, assessing and prioritizing capital spending, establishing best practices, and determining the feasibility, risk and cost of various facility solutions. You will also provide clients with advice on long-term asset management, capital planning, sustainability, lifecycle performance and strategic portfolio intelligence.

 

In support of the regional marketing plan, you will be responsible for marketing the company’s Advisory Services offering and for identifying, securing and delivering assignments.  You will ensure project profitability objectives are met and improved when possible.

Responsibilities

What you'll get to do as the regional Managing Director Colliers Project Leaders:

  • Lead and manage a team of high performing individuals with varying levels of seniority
  • Set regional strategic direction for core lines of business within Advisory Services including Strategic Portfolio Intelligence, Enterprise Program Management and Workplace Innovation, strategy and solutions
  • Be accountable for the successful delivery of engagements teams in workplace assessments, strategy development, high-level portfolio planning & programming, develop change management initiatives, create business cases and track design trends that impact space requirements
  • In addition to Managing the Advisor Services business you will also take a regional leadership role in one of the core practice areas Real Estate Advisory, Strategic Portfolio Intelligence, Infrastructure and Enterprise Program Management, Workplace Innovation Strategy and Change or Process Improvement
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) by staying abreast of current issues and trends in business, corporate real estate, workplace strategies and organizational development and through active participation in relevant industry forums and professional associations
  • Analyze different dimensions of the client organization; translate critical business/work processes into workplace models and infrastructure requirements. Manage engagements to meet fee realities. Organize and manage resources

Qualifications

What you'll need to be successful in the Managing Director role:

  • University degree in Business, Commerce or Finance. CFA or MBA designation highly preferred
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience leading client engagements gained in an Advisory or Professional services organization
  • Been responsible for developing and leading Advisory teams. This could be the next career step for you
  • Strong organizational skills creating the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills with the ability to effectively interpret and compile information and effectively articulate and present findings
  • Ability to adapt emerging best practices and industry innovations to client needs
  • Lead teams through exercises that will lead to change and organizational transformation
  • Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions and present in simple summarized ways
  • A demonstrated portfolio of work experience leading client engagements within the infrastructure and commercial real estate sectors or a related industry
  • Previous experience consulting to senior executives and program management groups within companies on their practices, systems and tools
  • A broad consulting skill set including strong presentation and stakeholder facilitation, business case and report writing, organizational and analytical skills.
  • Financial and commercial acumen, familiarity with complex financial models and a deep understanding of project finance and real estate finance
  • The ability to project a positive outlook and demonstrate an energetic disposition with clients, along with the ability to effectively influence positive client decisions.
  • Extensive client facing experience with a proven track record for business development  and experience identifying opportunities for future business
  • Demonstrated experience and familiarity with a variety of contract agreements, including the ability to apply legal language and standard clauses and to understand legal terminology
