An effective Business Development Manager is one who can effectively build a relevant network of business contacts and leverage that network to identify, pursue and secure new opportunities essential to our organizational growth and expansion.


Our Business Development Managers meet sales targets by organizing, motivating and leading business development activities for their respective business units. Working collaboratively with Regional VPs, Principals, Senior Project Managers, Marketing Team Members and other Business Development Team members, the Business Development Manager leads the implementation of annual business plans, is responsible for generating and responding to leads and providing sales and marketing support to business unit team members.


As Colliers Project Leaders continues to pursue new market segments and grow our client base in both existing and new geographical regions, we seek a Business Development Manager to join our team in Edmonton.

How you’ll contribute as a Business Development Manager at Colliers Project Leaders:

  • Initiate and nurture prospective client relationships to seek out and secure specific opportunities where Colliers Project Leaders’ experience and expertise can be leveraged
  • Support marketing and sales efforts with existing clients, including exploring opportunities to sell new and expanded service offerings
  • Act as a proposal lead from receipt of RFP to submission of the finished product to the client on certain major business unit proposals.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team on targeted sales and marketing strategies as well as the development of more general marketing collateral and presentation material
  • Assess networking and trade show opportunities in the region from a business development perspective and assume a leadership role to plan and participate in relevant events
  • Participate proactively in regional and national business development, marketing and sales meetings
  • Play a major role in setting and achieving annual and monthly sales objectives and targets for the region along with the Regional Vice President, Director of Business Development and other Business Development Managers
  • Develop and maintain as required, detailed knowledge of the company’s products, services and business approach
  • Remain knowledgeable with respect to competitors’ activity and offerings within the region
  • Effectively leverage the company’s CRM software through regular and consistent use and update


What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Post-Secondary Education in Business Administration, Commerce, Marketing or a combination of relevant post-secondary education and industry experience
  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years’ experience in a similar Business Development, sales or marketing role for professional services or consulting firms, or other non-commodity sales environments
  • Previous experience in project management, design or construction industry a strong asset
  • Networks spanning Municipal, Provincial and Federal Governments would be desirable
  • Previous experience developing and executing tactical sales plans as well as regularly exceeding established quotas and account objectives
  • The ability to acquire and maintain strong networks of influential industry contacts within the region as well as maintain involvement with applicable regional and national industry and trade associations
  • An active presence and engagement on LinkedIn, Twitter or other social networking mediums
  • Strong proficiency using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point) as well as CRM systems and databases
  • Strong leadership qualities and ability to influence management, colleagues, and clients
  • Exceptional organizational, negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills
