As Colliers Project Leaders continues to attract exciting new programs of work; we are seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead our Transit Portfolio in Vancouver.


Our Infrastructure practice is experiencing exponential growth and as we expand we are looking for a champion to lead and expand our portfolio of Transit projects. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has established themselves in the successful delivery of Transit projects and has developed a strong relationship with the different government departments and municipalities responsible for Transit projects.


You will join our rapidly growing Infrastructure Services team and act as a trusted advisor to Owners on their large, complex Transit projects. Our team of consultants brings project and technical leadership, representing their interests at all times and ensuring successful outcomes.


You will be able to demonstrate a portfolio varying in scope and complexity including medium sized ($5M-$50M) Transit projects, design, development services, multi-modal needs, asset management, transit infrastructure, utilities, and expansion opportunities across different transit platforms such as Rail, Light Rail, Rapid Transit, and Ferries. Ideally you will hold both P.Eng and PMP designations and have experience working as an owner’s representative or in a professional services environment with a focus on transit projects. Experience with either Translink or BC Transit (or similar organizations in other provinces) is preferred.

What you'll get to do as a Senior Project Manager with Colliers Project Leaders:

  • Provide leadership to the client's projects, representing their best interests and achieving their strategic end goals.
  • Be a trusted advisor to the client, applying your deep understanding of design, construction and operation of different transit platforms such as Rail, Light Rail, Rapid Transit, and Ferries.
  • Lead clients through the set-up, initiation, execution, monitoring and reporting of their projects
  • Organize project teams towards a common goal and establish levels of authority and lines of communication.
  • Report on project status by means of progress reports, meeting minutes, and other reports.
  • Chair project and site meetings, identify and resolve project issues and coordinate multiple stakeholders.
  • Serve as the relationship manager for select existing clients with the goal to nurture and build upon trusted relationships.
  • Contribute to planning and growth of the infrastructure services business unit within the Pacific region
  • Apply your leadership and communication skills to bring together stakeholders and project teams.
  • Peer review the work of, mentor and develop project managers and engineering support staff.


What you'll need to be successful in the role:

  • A degree or diploma in civil, municipal or transportation engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • P. Eng. and PMP designations preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of consulting engineering experience delivering Transit projects
  • Specific experience in areas such as Transit projects, development services, multi-modal needs, asset management, Transit infrastructure, utilities, and expansion opportunities.
  • Experience with Control systems, Communications systems including, Radio systems, Telephone systems, Optical: Optical Transport Network (OTN), Fire Life and Safety Systems (FLSS), Power Supply and Distribution system, Closed-Circuit Television Systems (CCTV) and Ticketing systems.
  • Extensive client facing experience in the delivery of related projects.
  • Led and/or significantly contributed to the preparation of RFP/Q’s, tenders and tender awards.
  • Strong working knowledge of a variety of design and construction delivery models.
  • Practical understanding of provincial government planning legislation and processes.
  • The leadership skills needed to influence decisions and resolve client and project issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including a working knowledge of scheduling (MS Project).
  • Experience on complex, multi stakeholder projects in a leadership role.
  • Political acumen
